ENERGY MANAGEMENT
According to recent studies, tertiary sector buildings are responsible for the 40% of the total energy consumption in national and European level. On top of the significant economic burden that is imposed on the owners, they are responsible for the greenhouse effect due to high carbon dioxide emissions. Moreover, these studies suggest that the overall energy consumption is increasing during the last years in Greece, thus boosting the overall ownership and use costs.
INSEA SA has a skilled, experienced and specialized team of engineers and scientists who can suggest sustainable and feasible changes for buildings, in harmony with the national and EU regulations.
INSEA SA offers the following services in the building energy saving area:
- Building energy audits.
- Building energy management services
- Design of energy efficient buildings.
- Building insulation works.
- Design and installation of Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS - Smart buildings).
Building Energy Audits
Our experienced and certified staff will systematically conduct the energy audit of your building. The audit involves the calculation of the real energy consumption. Through this process we identify the factors that are responsible for the possible increased consumption. Afterwards specific short-term and long-term measures will be suggested.
In detail, the energy audit procedure comprises of the following steps:
- Systematic logging of the energy consumption (heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting) and energy ranking.
- Measurements of the energy consumption profile of the building users.
- Inspection of the insulation of the building with the use of a thermal camera.
- Quantitative and qualitative processing of the results (of the steps above) in order to yield the energy balance of the building.
- Detailed report that will suggest short-term and long-term corrections and improvements towards energy saving.
Building Energy Management Services
The building energy management is a concise and continuous organization model that aims to: a) Minimize energy consumption and b) Offer comfort living conditions to the building users.
The following actions are part of the Building Energy Management Services INSEA SA offers:
- Regular programmed energy audits.
- Setting of specific energy consumption targets.
- Feasibility studies for the implementation of energy saving measures.
- Constant monitoring of the energy consumption of the building and evaluation against the targets set.
- Training of the building users in order to create a culture regarding the rational use of energy.
- Harmonization of the measures and strategic goals to the national and European regulations.
- Proposals for funding according to national and european funding programmes.
Insulation works on the building exterior.
The energy consumption for heating and cooling in buildings and houses counts for the 70% of the overall energy consumed. The insulation of the building exterior is of paramount importance for the energy profile of the building.
INSEA SA assesses the present thermal attitude of the profile and upon a methodological study suggests and implements specific measures such as:
- Insulation improvements and thermal bridges detection and cancellation.
- Improvements in openings (doors & windows)
- Cool roofs and roof gardens.
- Shading systems (e.g. moving or fixed shaders, tents, special glass constructions or natural germination).
- Special painting and coating
Study and installation of building energy management systems
Recent studies have proved that the rational use of electric energy for heating/cooling as well as ventilation and lighting, yields a significant decrease of the overall energy consumption (up to 20%), without any impact on the user comfort. The building energy management systems are state-of-the-art automation systems that are responsible for the function of the so called "Smart Building". In detail, an installation like this automatically controls parameters such as temperature, relevant humidity, air quality, lighting level inside the building by controlling the respective electric and mechanic equipment.
INSEA qualified engineers study and implement building energy management systems according to the european standard European Installation Bus EIB/KNX (ISO/IEC 14543-3). A typical EIB/KNX installation offers the following:
Heating - Cooling Control
- Central control of the building temperature.
- Control of room(s) temperature.
- Isolation of empty rooms with presence detectors.
- User profile based control of heating and cooling.
- Control of moving shaders in accordance to heating-cooling control.
- Monitoring and control of heating-cooling by phone or Internet.
Lighting Control
- Central and local lighting control.
- Control of lighting through keyboards or touch screens.
- Time rules for lighting functions.
- Automatic light level control according to external natural lighting.
- Lighting profiles (e.g. for conference rooms : conference or presentation settings).
- Lighting levels adjusting with dimming devices in incandescent or fluorescent lamps.
- Automatic power on/off of lighting depending on human presence in the room.
Air Quality and Relative Humidity Control
- Automatic control of openings in order to achieve the optimal level of humidity and the lowest possible level of carbon dioxide indoors.
- Parallel use with the cooling systems in order to aid the natural cooling of the building with wall fans instead of air-conditioning units for medium to high external temperatures.
Other benefits
- High quality equipment from the most important electrical equipment brands (Siemens, ABB, Jung, Berker, Hager, Legrand, Merten κ.α.).
- Availability of equipment from different brands as EIB/KNX is an open protocol and standard.
